Careington strives to provide superior network access for all clients and members, and is sensitive to client and member needs regarding provider availability. Clients may identify geographical areas in which they would like Careington to focus recruitment efforts and build up provider accessibility. Members may nominate non-participating providers, and Careington's Network Development recruiting division will reach out to the providers with details regarding plan participation. Careington aims to onboard nominated providers within 60 – 90 days of initial contact, using various means of communication to engage.
On an annual basis, Careington runs GeoAccess reports to assess current network accessibility and availability, determine any deficiencies and build a recruitment strategy in regions determined to be deficient. Contracted Careington providers are credentialed and re-credentialed according to NCQA guidelines, which requires a thorough check of malpractice history, verification of licensure, verification of adequate malpractice coverage, verification of education, regular monitoring against government sanction lists and other quality checks upon initial credentialing and re-credentialing.
