General Questions

Is this an insurance plan?

No, this is not an insurance plan. Our savings plans provide you with discounted prices on a wide range of veterinary services and products; you will pay for services at the discounted price at the time services are received.

How does a savings plan work?

First, you can find participating veterinarians by using the "FIND A VETERINARIAN" page on this website or by calling (888) 302-1139. After confirming the veterinarian's continued participation when making an appointment, members just show their membership card at the time of service. Members are responsible for paying all fees directly to the veterinarian.

How long will it take me to get into the system after I sign up?

After you have successfully become a member (either by joining on the website or calling (888) 302-1139), you will receive your membership materials and membership cards in about 7-10 days.

How do I get additional membership cards?

If you need additional cards for your household, or have lost your card, please call Member Services at (888) 302-1139 and press option 1, then press option 1 again. We will be happy to send additional cards to you.

How do I cancel my membership?

Verbal cancellations are accepted over the phone. If you cancel within the first 30 days of joining, you'll receive a full refund less any nominal processing fees, no questions asked.

Pet Care Questions

What will the veterinary practice discount when I show them my Pet Assure card?

Participating Pet Assure veterinary practices will give you a 25% discount on ALL medical care provided in the office by the veterinary staff. This includes:

  • Office visits
  • Dental care
  • Vaccinations
  • Hospitalization
  • X-rays
  • Surgery
  • And much more!

Participating veterinary practices are not required to discount: Outsourced services (e.g. blood work sent to a lab or an outside specialist), non-medical services (e.g. boarding/grooming), services already discounted, mileage fees for mobile vets, or prescriptions/products.

What are the exclusions?

Pet Assure has no exclusions based on age, breed or type of pet, and every in-house medical service is discounted. Since Pet Assure is not insurance, you can even save on pre-existing and hereditary conditions. There are no limits on use.

The discount does not apply to non-medical services such as routine grooming and boarding, outsourced services such as blood work sent to a lab or an outside specialist, mileage fees and products you take home such as medications and food.

Please note: You cannot combine the Pet Assure discount with other discounts or service packages.

Can I use Pet Assure together with pet insurance?

Yes! Pet insurance may be a good option for many pet owners, but it has its gaps, and Pet Assure helps fill those gaps:

Instant Savings - With pet insurance alone, you will have to pay in full at the time of the visit (and then file a claim). If you have a Pet Assure card, too, the veterinary practice will reduce the amount of your bill right at the time of service, before you pay.

Deductible - Since Pet Assure is not insurance, there is no deductible to pay. The vet will simply apply the discount starting from the first dollar on your first visit, and on every visit.

Denied claims - Pet insurance may not cover pregnancy, conditions that are pre-existing or hereditary in nature, conditions that occur within the initial waiting period after you sign up for the insurance policy and may limit or deny coverage for a variety of other reasons. If you have Pet Assure, too, you can still save on these medical instances.

How does the lost pet recovery service work?

The lost pet recovery service is provided free of charge to all Pet Assure members. You receive a super-lightweight collar ID tag for each dog and cat you enroll with Pet Assure. The unique laser-inscribed number on each tag is tied to our database and our Lost Pet Recovery service helps bring your pet home in case they ever stray away. When someone finds your pet, all they have to do is call our toll-free number at any hour, day or night. Our operators go right to work. They call your home, your work, your cell phone, and every emergency contact you provided, until they find someone that knows your pet. Our service has reunited thousands of pets with their owners.

Where can I receive the Pet Assure discount?

Thousands of participating veterinarians nationwide honor the Pet Assure discount card. Enter your ZIP code on the "FIND A VETERINARIAN" page to find a participating veterinarian in your area.

What if I have a complaint about a veterinarian?

Please submit all issues in writing, including a copy of your bill. You may fax them to (800) 247-4550, or you may mail them to Careington International Corporation, Attention: Member Services, 7400 Gaylord Pkwy, Frisco, Texas, 75034. Call Member Services at (888) 302-1139 for assistance.

Once I select a veterinarian, am I assigned to that veterinarian? How often can I change veterinarians?

Another great feature of the savings plan is your ability to select any veterinarian from the network. You can change veterinarians at any time, and household members can select their own veterinarians. Call Member Services at (888) 302-1139 for help finding participating veterinarians or visit the "FIND A VETERINARIAN" webpage.

What should I say when I call a veterinarian to make sure they participate?

The veterinarians will recognize the name of the network with which they participate, so when you call, it is important to use the name of the correct network.
