Careington International Corporation is proud to be an astronaut-level sponsor for the Back to Space Student Ambassador program. Careington is a co-sponsor for the program, which is designed to inspire more students to explore opportunities in science, technology, engineering and mathematic fields. The Back to Space program focuses on the goal of putting the Apollo space program back into pop culture to help educate the younger generations and capture the nation's imagination once again.
Students from across the nation will submit essays and videos for a chance to be selected as one of the top 25 candidates for the program. The winners will be announced at the Back to Space Gala held Oct. 19 at the Frontiers of Flight Museum in Addison, Texas. Representatives from Careington will be in attendance as well as Apollo astronauts Walt Cunningham, Al Worden and Charlie Duke. Other notable attendees include Andrew Aldrin son of Buzz Aldrin, and the MC for the evening, Mark Victor Hansen, creator of the popular book series "Chicken Soup for the Soul." The event is being held in conjunction with the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo missions.
"Careington is proud to attend this prestigious event and sponsor these young students as they explore their future in a STEM field," said Barbara Fasola, CEO of Careington. "We look forward to following Back to Space and the students' progress in the years to come."
This isn't the first time that Careington has worked closely with local students. Careington makes a point to continue to invest in the leaders of the future by welcoming yearly interns to their corporate office in Frisco, Texas. This year, Careington welcomed six interns from local high schools who immersed themselves within the company to learn leadership skills and be exposed to different business roles to help them choose a career path. Careington looks forward to continuing this investment with the Back to Space Student Ambassador program. By funding unique education opportunities like this one, Careington hopes to funnel more awareness, funding and interest into STEM programs.
