The Systems Administrator's role is to ensure the stable operation of the in-house and cloud computer infrastructure. This includes planning, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting and optimizing all systems hardware, software and communication links. Administrator will also analyze and resolve end user hardware and software computer problems in conjunction with the help desk support team. The Systems Administrator will be responsible for providing 24/7 systems support by remaining available during non-business hours for emergency support issues. This will be attained via an on-call rotation.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Systems management of LAN/WAN, intranet and internet systems.
  • Maintain and administer related hardware and software, including servers, routers, switches and peripherals, and manage licenses for all operating systems and related software.
  • Manage site-to-site VPN connectivity with multiple vendors.
  • Manage Office 365 users, connectivity and service.
  • Administer all equipment, hardware and software upgrades.
  • Perform system backups and recovery.
  • Interact and negotiate with vendors and outsourcers to secure systems products and services.
  • Manage security solutions, including firewall, anti-virus and intrusion detection systems.
  • Administer and maintain end user accounts, permissions and access rights and provide users with systems technical support.
  • Assist with developing and implementing policies, procedures and training plans for systems resource administration and appropriate use.
  • Assists with planning, communication, testing and implementation of disaster recovery procedures.
  • Analyze system utilization and offer suggestions for upgrades and improvements.
  • Perform audits on systems infrastructure.
  • Other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Working technical knowledge of current systems hardware, protocols and standards.
  • Experience managing an IP based systems consisting of multiple subnets and VLANs.
  • Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience.
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
  • Experience configuring, managing and using some or all of the following platforms:
    • Microsoft Windows Server Operating Systems
    • Active Directory
    • Public/private cloud
    • EMC SAN storage
    • VMware
      • ESXI
      • NSX

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent. College degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years related systems administration experience.
  • Certifications in systems technologies preferred.
  • Must have experience working closely with users and management.
  • Able to work under limited supervision and exercise independent judgment.
  • Proactive with the initiative to identify needs and offer solutions.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Can lead projects through complex tasks.
  • Flexible and able to quickly adapt and learn new technologies.
  • Possesses a positive attitude and desires to be part of a team environment
