IT Project Manager


The IT Project Manager will have 5+ years of current project management and business analysis experience for custom software development projects. The PM will work closely with the technical staff to ensure development processes follow industry and company best practices.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Document business rules and functional requirements of existing and proposed systems
  • Build project plan based on PMBOK standards
  • Interact with business SME's, onshore and offshore development teams and internal clients in order to determine system requirements
  • Manage IT projects, including reporting on project performance to internal and external stakeholders and management
  • Implement and manage a formal change control process
  • Collaborate with SME's to ensure that proposed systems conform to all applicable regulatory requirements
  • Enforce scope discipline for projects under development

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Solid understanding of software development models and knowledge of both Agile and traditional project management principles and practices and the ability to blend them together in the right proportions to fit a project needs
  • Ability to understand technical software development concepts and terminology
  • Experience with UML diagrams a plus
  • User experience (UX) knowledge
  • Business Process Modeling (BPM) knowledge
  • Experience building and executing test cases and plans and, subsequently documenting results for the development team
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational, multitasking and time management skills
  • Excellent people skills
  • Insurance or other compliance-heavy industry experience a plus, insurance experience a big plus

Education, Experience & Software

  • High school diploma or equivalent, college degree preferred
  • 5+ years of Project Management
  • PMP certification desirable
  • CBAP or other business analysis certification preferred
  • 2-3 years of formal Agile/Scrum experience desirable
  • Proficiency with Visio, Excel and project planning tools
